A Phytosanitary Certificate is an official document required when shipping regulated articles such as plants, plant products or other regulated articles. It is generated from the exporting country’s Department of horticulture, agriculture, food or water resources.

In Kolkata our licencing authority, Regional Plant Protection Quarantine & Storage (RPPQS), Kolkata is the authority to issue the Phytosanitary Certificate.

Documents required for Phytosanitary Certificate

  1. Invoice,
  2. Packing List
  3. Sale Contract
  4. Shipping Bill (After Shipment)

Clearance of Import Cargo

Exim Fumigation Services also offers consultancy for Import Clearance from RPQS, Kolkata. Timber logs sawn wood, wheat, pulses, plants are being Imported to India.

It is advisabe to refer to the Plant Quarantine Order, 2003 before any product is imported into India. Import to India has to be complied as per the Plant Quarantine Order, 2003. If any import is not found in oder, the cargo imported may be destroyed or it may be sent back to the port of origin.

For the process of Import Clearance from the Plant Quarantine office the following documents has to be submitted.

  1. Invoice
  2. Packing List
  3. Original Phytosanitary certificate issued by Country of origin.
  4. Bill of Entry
  5. Bill of Lading
  6. Fumigation Certificate issued by any approved agency of the Country of orine (If required)

The Customs House Agent (CHA) should obtain open instruction order before taking the Plant Quarantine officials for the inspection of the imported cargo.
